2FA Support: Login with Passkeys and an Authenticator App

Password-less login via Passkeys!

The Obby Wiki now supports both 2FA (via an authenticator) logins and passkeys, allowing for better account security and password-less logins. This is even faster than logging in with an external account provider!

As a fair warning, passkey support is fairly new and experimental. As such, a password-less passkey login option may not be available at all times or for all users. I recommend using an authenticator exclusively at this point.

Warning: Security keys are not supported yet.

How do I enable 2FA on my account?

Firstly, ensure you have a verified email address on your Obby Wiki account, then proceed.

To add a 2FA login option on your account, navigate to the preferences page (Special:Preferences). Next to 'Two-factor authentication', click the 'Manage' button. This should take you to Special:AccountSecurity. You may need to login again to access this page. From here, click the 'Add an authenticator app' button. Follow the steps on the page and click the 'Submit' button once you're done.

How do I add a passkey to my account?

Passkeys require existing 2FA on your account. Follow the steps above, then return to the same page as before (Special:AccountSecurity) and refresh it. There, if passkeys are available for you, click 'Add a passkey'. If passkeys are properly supported on your web browser you should see a passkey creation popup. Follow the prompts to create a passkey.

To login with a passkey, visit the login page and click the 'Sign in with a passkey' button.
