– Devoid

Devoid is a large tier 17 tiered obby frequently referred to as being among the hardest obbies in all of Roblox. Featuring 2,054 jumps in one obby, Devoid is considered as being close to the human limit of precision platforming, particularly in terms of endurance. Starting at the bottom of a barren wasteland, players must climb a dark staircase leading to the main obby. The obby starts off forgiving with easy-enough jumps, but later evolves into an extremely challenging and unforgiving obby. Like many absurdly difficult challenge obbies before it, Devoid features little catch zones, so failures can set you back hours. Only 3 players have beaten the obby in Hardcore mode, usually taking upwards of 4 hours in their runs.

Gameplay

Devoid's first section, Part 1.

The obby is divided into eight sections called Part 1, Part 2, Prison, Mountain Side A, Mountain Side B, Big C, Islands, and The Final Stretch. While the raw gameplay is not as difficult as the tier might suggest, Devoid relies on consistent difficulty and length, making it feel more like an endurance obby than an extremely challenging one. It's main gameplay type is linear, but does include a variety of others sparsely throughout the obby. Players can play in any of three modes: hardcore, practice, and checkpoints mode.

Devoid's second section, Part 2

Part 1 and Part 2 are the easiest sections of the obby and don't contribute a lot to the difficulty. However, they make up a significant portion of the length, with the two parts having 178 and 116 jumps respectively. They consist of a variety of gameplay styles, but is mainly made up of linear gameplay. Part 1's route goes from the staircase at the start of the obby, across multiple pillars, and to a spike protruding from the ground, the first netted section of the obby. Then, the player will navigate to a second tower and end the section by going across a tightrope. Part 2 is a large funnel-shaped tower that the player must scale until they reach a hole in the ceiling. It also serves as the floor of the Prison.[2]

Devoid's third section, Prison

The Prison is a shorter, 95-jump section with only basic wraparound linear gameplay. It resembles a maze, despite only having one path for the player to follow. At the end of the Prison, there are a series of tightropes that lead into Mountain A Side. After the first tightrope, there is a 5x5 hole trap called the Sewer that leads back to the start of the Prison if the player falls into it.[2]

Mountain Side A and B are each 356 and around ~400 jumps respectively and resemble an upside-down U shape. Mountain Side A features considerably more nets and is has noticeably easier raw gameplay than Mountain Side B. The next section begins with a sign saying "INDUSTRIAL SECTION" and ends with a final stretch that leads into the Big C.[2]

The Big C is divided into three sub-sections that are called checkpoints. However, these checkpoints serve functionally as nets because they teleport you back to where you fall, but don't teleport you back to the Big C if you disconnect, so they do not count as stages. It has around ~630 jumps in the entire section. At the end of the Big C, there is a sub-section called The Walls that leads into the Islands.[2]

Design and environment

Setting

Devoid takes place in a dark, barren wasteland. The player can observe, from the spawn, a silhouette of the obby looming above you. Once an ancient civilization, now an untangled

Dark ambience

The dark ambience complicates the overall theme and mood of the entire obby. Exploiting an uneasy, mysterious feeling that coincides with the length of the obby. Devoid presents itself planted on large, matte-black ground devouring all source of light. With the obstacle course waiting for the obbyist to begin the run.

The fog

An everlasting fog in gray is forever clinging onto the spires of Devoid, with its murky texture and never-dissipating vapor that is left there coupled with the obby. This extra layer of the ambience contrasts the silhouette therefore emphasizing the looming obby.

Victors

Only 3 players have ever beaten Devoid, according to its badges. Many attempts exceed the 4 hour mark.
