The first question new contributors often have is why. Why should they spend their time editing, improving, and otherwise contributing to this wiki of all wikis? If you recently discovered this wiki and find yourself asking that question, you are not alone. This is the right page for you.
Why choose this Obby Wiki
There are a few smaller and more dependent obby wiki initiatives around. Such as the legacy Obby Fandom Wiki which has not received support from its administrators in almost 3 years to date. The Obby Wiki (this one) is the modern replacement (not alternative) to all the previously mixed and messy old generic obby-centric wikis about on Fandom and other platforms. This wiki is for documenting and archiving as many high or decent quality obbies as possible and with as much detail as possible. Other initiatives, such as the Eternal Towers of Hell Wiki, are fundamentally distinct from us, as they focus specifically on one game/obby/property, and not every obby possible. Come to the Obby Wiki for quick and trustworthy information, and go to another game-specific wiki for more details on a specific section or tower.
By our definitions, there are no other active and broad obby wikis around. While the Roblox Fandom Wiki may cover some notable obbies themselves, we have a much larger scope than them and cover more obbies and with greater dedication, as the Roblox Wiki is meant for general information about the platform, not obbies specifically.
Why choose to edit here?
If you believe obbies, like all video games, deserve to be documented and archived, you should consider creating an account and joining the wiki. Or, if you have a specific bit of knowledge you may want to share, you should also join. You can join for any reason, provided you follow our rules and guidelines.
Additionally, we have many improvements that a wiki on Fandom has never and could never offer. Read below for more information on that.
Advantages
The Obby Wiki has many technical advantages over Fandom. Being completely independent of any major wiki-farm or any overarching governing body provides us with the ability to move faster and add new features quickly without approval. It also comes at a cost of server bills and hosting fees, as well as complete responsibility over our infrastructure. You can see how we manage reliability and redundancy in its section below.
On every page of this wiki is something technical that a wiki on Fandom has never had. Like our custom home page, our create article button, our live infoboxes, and more.
Below are some of the main advantages that sets the editing and reading experience apart from other wikis.
Semantic Articles and Custom implementations
One thing we do different than Fandom is the use of Cargo, an in-house MediaWiki alternative to Semantic MediaWiki. This helps our editors and contributors quickly write articles without worrying about formatting or pulling live statistics as we update them automatically with our custom modules, templates, extensions, and implementations. This offers more structure and clean organization of content compared to a Fandom-hosted wiki and in some cases even more trusting hosts.
We have infrastructure and tools specifically built around our largest template ({{ObbyGameInfobox}}), such as our obby edge endpoints which quickly fetch large troves of data from the Roblox Web APIs, handled off-site and faster than Scribunto can allow for.

Easily create articles with the Obby Wiki Article Flow Modal
Creating a new Obby Wiki article used to be daunting; you would had to of found a lot of information yourself and closely read along with the infobox template and editing documentations.
Since June 2026, Obby Wiki contributors can use our article flow modal (via the "+" (create new article) button on the top left) to quickly create an article boilerplate for them. This boilerplate is tailored to the information you provide to it via questions and other information it automatically fetches for you. This removes the technical learning curve and barriers and is yet another reason you should join the Obby Wiki!
History
The Obby Wiki has been active since April 2025. We have been online all that time, sustaining edits, registrations, and views. The Obby Wiki has a minimum service commitment date of the 7th of January 2026, meaning we will stay online at least to that date, despite costs.
